Guided Field Trips

Join us for a 2-3 hour guided field trip at Richardson Grove State Park! Before your field trip, you will get to choose activities that will fit the unit standards and needs of your class. Students will learn about the park’s natural and cultural heritage by exploring our redwood forests, its habitats, stories, and places. From the Eel River watershed to women’s redwood conservation herstory, old-growth redwood forests have something for everyone.

Field trips generally include:

  • An introduction to the park,

  • A guided nature walk,

  • 1-2 educational, physical, or creative activities of your choosing*!

Field trips are hosted entirely outdoors, with some opportunities to sit under covered shelter if necessary. Be prepared for hikes and activities in the forest. Our interpreters are very flexible and happy to design an experience for you and your students.

Field Trips are available throughout the school year. Guided field trips typically take 2-3 hours to complete, with a maximum group size of 50 students and a preferred adult to student ratio of 1:10.

Self-Guided Field Trips

Self-Guided Field Trips are facilitated independently by K-12 educators, chaperones, and youth program leaders without the support of California State Park staff.
